Poor Man's Cake
Poor Man's Cake
2 Cups sugar 2 Cups water 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 2/3 Cup lard 1/2 Cup nuts (I use finely chopped walnuts) 2 Cups raisins Mix above ingredients together and boil for 3 min. Let cool then add the following ingredients: 4 Cups flour 2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. baking soda Pour batter into greased 9" x 13" pan. Bake in slow oven (350 degrees) for 30 minutes.
