Default Pear recipe

I recently came into possession of several buckets of "Good old hard
Arkansas pears". I have canned them and eaten them fresh before, but I have
heard that they are wonderful just sliced into a pan and cooked.

Does anyone else know of this method, and if so, what and how much do I add
to the pan besides the pears? Thanks for your help in advance.

Dwayne
