Default Stuffed Onions

Stuffed Onions

6 large sweet onions
1/2 pound lean ground beef
2 mild Italian sausages, casings removed, or 1/4 pound breakfast sausage
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 cup soft bread crumbs
1/4 cup chili sauce

Peel onions; cook in boiling salted water 30 minutes. Drain and let cool.
Cut a slice of the top of each onion; remove centers. Chop centers and
reserve 2 tablespoons. Combine ground beef, sausage, seasonings, mustard,
bread crumbs, chili sauce, and the 2 tablespoons of chopped onion centers.
Stuff onions and place in baking pan (cut a small slice off the bottom to
help them stand).Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes. Serves 6.
