Subject: Pfeffernuesse ?

I have tried various recipes for Pfeffernuesse
from several cookbooks. None comes out just like Mom used to make. She
did not age the dough. Hers had no fruit, but used black pepper & other
spices. We helped her make thumbnail- sized cookies.
Then, she would usually pack them in tins and hide them for about 6
weeks. The aging process was after they were baked. But sometimes
we could sneak a couple. They were great!
Maybe someone has that recipe???

Subject: Sourdough bread baked in a crockpot

I was told of a recipe from an old crockpot cookbook that listed both a
sourdough starter and how to bake the loaf of bread in the cooker. Can
you
help?
Thanks, Merry Christmas,
Judith

A few years ago I was in a town where there was a Steak and Ale
restaurant. I ate a dish which was a takeoff on Beef Wellington. There
was a small filet steak in the center. On top of the steak was cheddar
cheese and surrounding it was puff pastry. When you cut open the crust,
liquid cheddar ran out. It was so good. I have always wished I could
make it.

I am looking for ways to dress up the polenta I buy in the supermarket. I
saw a recipe for pork with polents but did not get the recipe. Can anyone
help me with this one?
