Subject: Help - How to Make Peanut Squares
Date: 18 Dec 2004 07:46:41 -0800

One of my favorite memories of growing up in Milwaukee were the peanut
squares we would get from the German bakeries. These were basically a
sponge cake that was cut up into squares of about 1.5" x 1.5", coated
on all sides by a clear white sugar frosting and then rolled in chopped
peanuts. I have tried re-creating this treat several times, but I
can't get the frosting/peanut part right. Either the frosting is too
wet, and the cake dissolves, or the frosting is too dry and the peanuts
don't stick.
Can anyone give me a clue on how to make these.

Thanks.

Subject: Recipe for Sweet Potato - Apple Pie?
Date: Sat, 18 Dec 2004 23:16:32 GMT

Hi

I am looking for a recipe for sweet potato - apple pie. In other words,
one with sliced up (not mashed) sweet potatos and apples, pref. a deep
dish pie.

I remember my Mother made for Thanksgiving a small dish of candied yams
and sliced apples, but it was not a pie. It was so good, it gave me the
thought of putting such in a pie.

I'm hoping to get a recipe before XMas (so I can make it for XMas).

Thanks!!!

Subject: Cheese ball request....

Hello all! I am hoping that one of you can help me. We had a potluck at
college the other night and a lady brought a cheese ball. Never had one
before....mmmm! Well, it had green onions, ranch dressing, several types
of finely shredded cheese along with the cream cheese, and rolled in
pecans. Would anyone happen to have such a recipe? Any help would be
appreciated.

Happy Holidays,

Tamara

There's a German cookie with pepper in it, called pfeffernusse or
peppernuts, I think. I've only had it once and it was delicious.
Does anyone have a recipe for them?
