7-Up Strawberry Pie

1 pt. fresh strawberries
1 baked pie crust
1 carton whipped topping or Reddi Whip
1 (10 oz.) bottle 7-Up
1 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 1/2 tsp. red food color

Mix sugar and cornstarch in large saucepan. Add 7-Up and cook over
medium heat for about 20 minutes or until thickens and assumes a syrup
like appearance, next add food color. Place strawberries in baked pie
crust. Pour syrup over strawberries and refrigerate. After syrup has
completely jelled, top pie with whipped topping.
