Texas Red Chili
Recipe By :Janet Wilder Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :2:00 Categories : Casseroles & One-Dish Meals 1 pound coarse -ground beef 1/2 cup onion -- coarsely chopped 1 can Bush's Chili Magic -- Texas Style 1 can Rotel brand tomatoes and green chilis -- Mild 1 can beer -- light is OK 2 Tbsp hot chili powder 2 Tbsp garlic powder 1 tsp ground cumin 3 Tbsp corn meal In a large, heavy sauce pan, brown the beef. Add onions and saute with beef until soft. Add next six ingredients (beans through cumin). Stir well and simmer, uncovered 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Thicken sauce with corn meal and simmer another 20 min. NOTES : If you can't get coasre-ground beef, cut stew meat into half-inch pieces or use ground beef or ground turkey. -- Rec.food.recipes is moderated by Patricia D. Hill at .
