Pumpkin Dessert Squares

submitted by amanda

1 package yellow cake mix, set aside 1 cup of mix
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/8 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp flour
1 tsp cinnamon
8 ounces pumpkin or apple butter
3 large eggs
1/4 cup butter, room temperature

Preheat oven to 350F. Reserve 1 cup of cake mix. Combine remaining cake
mix with melted butter and 1 egg in a bowl. Press this mixture into button
of a 9-inch by 13-inch pan. Mix together pumpkin or apple butter with 2
eggs and the milk. Pour this mixture over the cake mixture in the pan.
Stir the reserved cup of cake mix with the flour, sugar, softened butter
and cinnamon. Mix together until crumbly. You may add a little brown sugar
and/or crushed pecans to the mixture, also. Sprinkle over the top of the
pumpkin layer. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown, cut into
squares.
