Default Burnt-End Sandwiches

Burnt-End Sandwiches

Makes 8 servings

Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 1 hour

1 15-ounce can tomato sauce*
1 cup blackstrap molasses or dark-flavored molasses
1 2 4-1/4-ounce jars chopped jalapeno peppers, drained, and/or
one 4-1/2-ounce can diced green chili peppers, drained
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
4 cups coarsely chopped end pieces of roast turkey, pork
shoulder, beef brisket, and/or ham, or 4 cups chopped roast turkey,
pork, brisket, and/or ham
8 8 warm warm kaiser rolls

In a saucepan, mix tomato sauce, molasses, peppers, water, vinegar,
Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir
in your choice of meat. Bring the mixture to boiling. Reduce heat;
simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Split rolls. Ladle meat mixture onto rolls. Serve with forks. Makes
8 servings.
