Default Preserving Method Preference?

I have to say up to now, I preferred freezing for most things with the
exception of jams and pickles. However, last year's power outage and
the fact we could have lost everything in our freezer made me reconsider
that preference. I figure it prudent not to depend entirely on any one
method. Actually, I started diverting for the Y2K scare but not that
much. This year, I will likely do equal amounts of freezing and canning
for produce and a very small amount of dehydrating. I have a dehydrator
but it is used mainly for beef jerky. What is your favourite preserving
method?

haven't made jam in years (got a couple little apricot trees planted so i'll
be making jam again!) but i recently got a food dehydrator & have been
drying fruit. i've got a food saver so i'm putting the dried fruit in mason
jars &
vacuum sealing it. i also want to try drying veggies & eventually i'll try
jerky.
my chest freezer is one of those little square ones, not much room to save
too much.
