Default rumtopf revisited (a.k.a. rumpot-rumtoft-rumtoff)

I've seen a few references to only stirring and dipping into the rumtopf
with a glass or ceramic spoon. Is this really necessary?

Used to be, back when metal spoons were aluminium or straightout iron
sheet.
These days, with stainless steel, there's no need for glass or ceramic.

Dunno 'bout wooden spoons though; depends on the wood, probably.
