Yeehaaa! I finally had the Big Blue Book and Joy of Pickling wirebound
down at Kinko's. (no relationship otherwise). Didn't cost much, about US$3.50 per. Couldn't do that for all the cookbooks I have, but I use those two a lot, and the wire binding makes it *so much easier* to use. I'm thrilled, just thrilled. Maybe I just need to get out more... Whilst flipping thru the new Blue Book, I noticed a recipe for vegetarian mincemeat someone was looking for a while back. I'll copy it out if y'all want. Scored some nice organic beets on sale, getting ready to make a double batch of Red Whine Pickled B**ts. My sis took a quart jar of mah pickled okry to a wedding shower and they ate'em all up. I'm pleased, just pleased. After the beets, I'll get about 8# of meat ready for Chipotle beef jerky. The last batch of curry jerky, I tried another cut of beef roast, cheap stuff. As before I prefer the round cut, lots less gristle and affordable. And planning on playing with compost and grass cutting for dessert later on tonight. Edrena |
