Hello all, new to the group and am wondering what might be a traditional
Mexican holiday food that I could make for my son's 10 grade Spanish class? Thanks so much for any and all help! |

Forget the tacos, tamales, enchiladas and burritos. Who hasn't eaten all that snack stuff? If you want that sort of thing, just car pool over to Taco Hell. Try making chili colorado, birria de chivo, mole poblano, pozole, cochinita pibil, or costillas de puerco for a real sit down meal. You can google up recipes for all those dishes on the www. |

I second most of what has been said already: Tamales are truly tipical,
and should be had with some nice steaming cup of hot atole. For a more formal kind of holiday dinner you may have Chiles rellenos or Chiles en nogada with white rice. Also Chicken or Turkey mole or in Central Mexico (Mexico City) they like Norwegian codfish (check this site: http://www.elalmanaque.com/recetas/pascua/navmex.htm) is in spanish but you can get some nice ideas there.
