Default Converting site to .binaries.

Does anybody know how, or would care to explore, changing this site to
binaries in order to share images? I think it would go a long way to
stimulate interest in this dwindling site. Anybody?

Why reinvent the wheel when there's _already_ an established .binaries
'group for posting jpegs of your food p0rn. It's afb.

If you want a binary newsgroup for posting jpegs of your favorite
dishes, one has already been established (since Feb. 2004 I believe).
It's primarily for posting bbq pics but other food-p0rn is also posted
there.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but I don't recognize an Internet address from
your notes. Also, I'm suggesting that this newsgroup's address might be able
to change enough so that pictures could be added without any fanfare as in,
let's say, alt.binaries.models.scale

What say you?

It's not an "address" as such but the initials for the name of the
particular newsgroup I was mentioning. alt.binaries.food (abf)

Binaries _can_ be posted to a text-based 'group -- easily -- and become
known as a "stealth" 'group. Most ISPs don't block stealth 'groups
because the bandwidth (and hence, the resource cost) is so low.

The posters that do share pictures of their completed recipes also have
websites displaying their art.

What say you?

I'm ag'innit. ABF is already here and open to all posters.

And it's a very friendly group. They even let me post there occasionally.

My provider (and many others) blocks binary groups, and Google doesn't
host them either.

THere are many avenues where one can post binaries. You could start up
say, a yahoo group for pictures etc. Or even creat
alt.binaries.mexican-cooking if you'd like. But please do not
post binaries on this news group, it will get banned and spammed.

Sincerly,

Johann

It's fast becoming my favorite time of year. Green Chile Season!
Here's my recipe for El Paso style Green Chile Stew know as Caldillo:
---------------------------------------------------------------

1.5 lbs beef chopped into 1/2-3/4 inch. (Round steak, or stew meat)
1 medium white(tennis ball sized) onion chopped. (don't use more)
3 cloves Garlic minced
1T teaspoons ground Cumin. (grind your own if you're ambitious)
1 can Diced tomatoes with juice
2-3 Cups Chopped Roasted Green Chile 3/4" pieces seeds OK. (divided usage)
(canned or frozen will do, but fresh roasted and peeled is da kine)

1 cups chicken stock (canned OK)
3 large peeled potatoes chopped about 1 inch. (I use bakers, Red may be better suited)
Salt to taste (about 1T)
1/4 teaspoons of black pepper. (This can over power-use sparingly)

Brown (grey) beef in large stew pot.
Add onion and sweat.
Add garlic " ".
Don't over brown just sweat.
Add Cumin and coat
Add the rest of the ingredients reserving 1 cup of the GC.
Whoops! Don't add the potatoes yet. ;-)
Slow simmer until the beef is as tender as desired. (~ 2 hours)
Add potatoes and add water to cover.
Check salt.
Cook until potatoes are tender, then add the other cup of GC.
Simmer 30-40 minutes.

Serve in bowl with grated Cheddar Cheese (medium is what I use)
and some warm Flour Tortillas

Enjoy!

It's alt.binaries.food and it's not just for bbq photos. I post there and
there are many interesting photos of various cuisines.

Haha, and you share my disdain for sour cream on Mexican dishes too.
