What is "maicena"? Is it mace?
What are "clavos de olor"? Are they the cloves you stick in a ham, before baking it? What does "rojada" mean? Something reddened? What are "lonjas"? Chuletas Agridulces (Sweet and Sour Pork Chops) Ingredientes: (Ingredients ![]() Para 3 personas (For 3 people) 3 chuletas (3 pork chops) 3/8 de una taza de aqua (3/8 cup of water) 1/2 cucharadita de pimenton molida ( 1/2 teaspoon paprika) Sal y pimiento al gusto (salt and pepper to taste) 1/2 naranja mediana (1/2 a medium orange) 1/2 taza de jugo de naranja (1/2 cup of orange juice) 1/4 taza de azucar (1/4 cup of sugar) 1/2 cucharadita de maicena (1/2 teaspoon of mace?) 1/4 cucharadita de canela molida (1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon) 3 clavos de olor (3 sticks of scent?, cloves?) Preparacion: (Preparation ![]() Dorar las chuletas por ambos lados, agregar el agua, pimenton molido, pimienta y una cucharadita de sal, llevar a ebullicion, reducir el calor y tapar (Brown the chops on both sides, add the water, paprika, pepper, and a teaspoon of salt, bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover.) Cocinar a fuego bajo aproximadamente 35 minutos. (Cook on low heat about 35 minutes.) Mientras se cocinan las chuletas preparar la salsa de naranja. (While the chops are cooking, prepare the orange sauce.) Rallar la cascara de una naranja hasta obtener una cucharada de ralladura, cortar 6 lonjas muy finas de naranja. Something reddened? I don't know. But if it was "rajada" instead, it might be referring to the slices. Interestingly, my dictionary points out in the listing for "raja" that the word "rodaja" also means "slice". I wonder if "rojada" was a typo? What are "lonjas"? Slices or strips. |
