The only flaw is there was no before/after weigh-in. I'll bet she lost
about 5 pounds in the process. I only read the first and last paragraphs.

Snarfing up all the free food she can find doesn't really count. Plus
she spent $2.50 - more than a quarter of her daily budget - on a
gelato? Whatevah! There are plenty of places to snag some good good
for not much cash here....but there are also many more, *much* better
places to drop some serious dough. I opt for the latter, when I can.

She knows she has about $8 a day to eat, what does she do?
Spends over $3 on a donut and a gelato, hasn't even reached
lunch yet. No worries, her boyfriend buys her dinner.

Laughable. Free samples from her deli job, why didn't I think
of that? Oh, I don't work in a deli. The whole article is a joke.

Definitely!!!

Dark chocolate (70%+ cocoa) doesn't register on the bathroom scale at my
place. That or I don't weigh in often enough.

Forgive me! LOL!!!

Oh, piffle. I'd like to see a Dumpster Diving show. Back in the '60s in
Austin we found great produce behind the Safeway and roadkill was often
on the menu..

Once, while we were picking on the porch, the frat house provisioning
truck turned the corner too fast and a 100 lb sack of Idaho bakers fell
out. We dropped our guitars & quarts of Old Milwaukee and grabbed it
and put it in the back of the house. We had a lot of great venison stew
for the next two weeks.

Great article. Reminds me of my senior year in college after my parents
cut the funds off. Too much partying in the frat house with my "brothers"
lowered my GPA and ticked off the parents. For the life of me I can NOT
account for RR's popularity. FoodTV is turning into a circus. Ya' got RR
gabbing, flailing her arms and lying about how long it takes to make her
recipes, Flay is out there in competition with local restauranteers and
last, but certainly not least, Sandra Lee is appealing to Gawd only knows
what kind of people. I find myself watching Epicurious more and more.

Perspective from a Portlander:

Willamette Week is a free newspaper with more ads than articles. Most
take it for the personal ads in the back, although some of the
articles are good for starting political debates. I read the sarcasm
in the article. I doubt it was meant to be taken seriously.

I've always felt $40 a day was very generous and do-able. The
restaurants that Rachael visited while she was here were mostly of the
pub and bed and breakfast type.

Rachael is funny, entertaining and engaging. She has a real-girl appeal
that seems to please a broad base of viewers. And she appeared in FHM a
while back, looking very cute and sexy.

The Sandra Lee thing is a bit of a mystery, I'll grant. I watch her show to
see what she could possibly come up with next. It's like a bad accident on
the freeway, you can't look away.

It's my opinion and it's very true!
