Default Recipe: Al's Taco Seasoning

I made that taco stew recipe the other day and said I try and make my own
taco seasoning.

Well here's my first try:

@@@@@ Now You're Cooking! Export Format

Al's Taco Seasoning

3 tbsp. chili powder
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. ground cumin
2 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon (as per Damsel's instructions)

1. To prepare the mix: in a plastic zip-type bag, combine the chili
powder, flour, cumin, oregano, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt
and cayenne, cinnamon;shake the bag until completely mixed.

approx 3 tbsp = 1 1/4 oz pkg

But, but, but ... how did it taste? I think you'll like the touch of
cinnamon.

It was good...typo in the recipe though, it should read 1/4 tsp cinnamon.
Just enough to leave you wondering what it is...I used real cinnamon too;
not that supermarket casio stuff. Just not sure which type... as I
labeled the jar cinnamon and forgot which type was in the jar.

I learned 2 things yesterday...Never ever flush papper towels and don't
spill coffee on your keyboard.

I *love* seasoning things so people can't figure out what it is that
they're tasting. Good for you! I'll try your mix next time we make
tacos.

I've learned the same lesson regarding paper towels. Did you have to
replace the keyboard?

I make basically the same recipe and have seen it many times in many
places before, but never have I seen it include flour? I can't imagine
why that would even be necessary. It is very flavorful and effective
without. I will try the cinnamon next time though.

the flour is to help thicken the sauce.

Ohhhhhh. I never need to thicken anything when I'm using it to make
tacos. I just brown and drain the meat, then toss the spices in as well
as a large splash of water to help the spices mix evenly with the meat.
Then I cook it down more to evaporate the water out and it is perfect.
