I have some sauteed cabbage on the stove, started with a bit of water until it evaporated, then butter, salt and pepper and garlic. Would you add anything else? Maybe some paresan??? We can't eat anything spicey, so didn't want to put in cayenne or pepper flakes. Any suggestions? tia...Sharon |

To make this dish a little more substantial, you could add a diced-small potato. Butter on top of it all, if you are a butter-eater. This is a comfort dish to me. DH only likes cole slaw and steamed cabbage, and I will make it for myself as sort of a tonic when I'm not feeling too chipper. Dee Dee |

I need hot pepper flakes in mine, but you can leave it out. Sandy |

Dh liked it a lot, so I guess I shouldn't change it too much.....Sharon |

But the onion addition sounds good too. We live in the midst of onion farms and I buy a large bag of spanish each summer. They don't last long though, since I put lots of onion in my dishes. I don't think I'd like potatoes in it though. It's a side dish for meat and potatoes. We had meat loaf and garlic roasted potatoes with it. Thanks...Sharon |

Dried dill weed works well too, especially with the butter. Maybe a dash of dried lemon peel. -- Peace! Om "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a Son of a bitch" -- Jack Nicholson |

Too late for this time, but next time you make it, you could leave out the garlic and add some poppy seeds. Maybe a touch of paprika and/or sour cream. Bob |

Of if you like it much, as my mum does, add a good cup of passata. I agree with the "no cheese" party. -- Vilco Think pink, drink rose' |
