Default Butter Substitute for Potatoes & Veggies

ZGirl's reply about butter on potatoes reminded me of this spread. I make
this regularly and it is an excellent substitute if you are trying to cut
down on butter but still retain the flavour. Also you don't need sour cream
on baked potatoes if you use this.

8 oz. pkg. fat free cream cheese (or Neufchatel)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 Tbs. finely minced chives or fresh parsley
dash celery salt
dash onion powder
1/2 tsp. sweet paprika

Let the cheese stand until it reaches room temp. Blend all ingredients
together in a small mixing bowl. Cover and refrigerate; keeps chilled up to
two weeks.

Have you ever tried butter buds? Its is a powdered butter ( not a popcorn
butter ) You can add a little hot water for liquid butter if you wish. I
find it to be a good substitute when I want to cut back .

Barbara

I've been using Promise margarine (the fat free) and a spread called
Benacol. Both are good. Hell, sometimes I squeeze some lemon on the
potato and use a generous sprinkle of cracked pepper and salt.

What a great idea!, I do the same on salad sometimes but never thought of
the pototo. I didnt know Promise had a ff product, I will look for it ;-)

peace,
Barbara
