Default Electric garlic roaster???

One interesting thing about posting on Google groups, they put other
links to related items based on the posts you are reading in the
margin. I usually ignore them but when I perused my own post about deep
fried garlic, I clicked on a link for roasted garlic and found this
interesting item:

http://www.firststreetonline.com/product.jsp?path=-1|13491&id=36525

Looks intriguing and since the roasting cup is removable, I imagine
that that roasting chamber would be good for other items. :-) Maybe
even eggs and it's a non-stick coating.

I don't really need another kitchen gadget but I thought it was kinda
cute being garlic shaped and all, and has a good possibility for other
uses. G

Opinions?

(very) small appliances like this are a boon to us who live in the desert
and try to avoid heating the full-size oven for small items. This is one I
might consider. I think it might be to hot for eggs, however.

I use my toaster oven for roasting vegetables, broiling meat and fish. My
electric egg cooker makes an acceptable poached egg and hard boiled eggs
that peel easily and never crack. My small appliance aresenal also
includes two electric skillets, two crockpots, electric roaster, KA mixer,
hand mixer, blender, food processor, antique malt mixer, electric sandwich
maker, two waffle makers, spice mill, burr coffee grinder, and probably
some other things I haven't remembered.

I had a contact grill but despised cleaning it, regardless of method. If I
can't dishwasher the soiled parts, then I don't want it in my house. g

Our tiny kitchen is cramped in this rental house, but we finally have an
end in sight. We closed on our property and our house is under
construction, with a possible end of August move date. I will have plenty
of pantry and storage areas there for everything.

I try not to use the oven, too, especially in the summer.

I am finding I am using my GF grill less and less because I hate
cleaning it...

To my knowledge, the first contact grill introduced to the US was a
beautifully designed model made in France. I bought one at Bridge
Kitchenware in NYC in 1993. After using it for about a month, I took it to
Goodwill. It was actually a better design than the GF, but a cleaning
nightmare.

Thanks! Yes I will. It's not a huge kitchen, but it's well organized with
plenty of counter and storage space. I can hardly wait. g

The Hamilton grill, at least one of the models, has removable grids.
I don't see why you could not dishwasher them. I've quit trying to cook
chicken in them as it tends to ruin the non-stick coating. I use mine
now ONLY for beef and pork as I can wipe the grids clean with a paper
towel and a bit of glass cleaner but I did grill a salmon fillet' in
there today with excellent results.

That will be nice for you! Storage space, if you are a kitchen gadget
whore, can get to be a real problem. I'm starting to use more small
appliances now tho' partially to save on power usage, and I don't like
to heat up the house in the summer either. Not when it's over 100
degrees outside.

I wonder if Bed, Bath, & Beyond or Linen 'n Things might have these?
My only sqawk is the shipping is fee is 1/3 the price of this item.
I've seen the ones that are the oven type, but like already has been
mentioned, who wants to heat up the the kitchen by turning on the oven?

I'm doing some googling on it.
I did find it on the Target website but am doing more searches. :-)

Google search is "Roasted Garlic Express" since it's the name brand.
Should be able to find cheaper shipping, or find a local outlet.
