Hey, Om! Have you decided to discontinue the JDJ, or am I just missing
something?

Been having problems aquiring a stable news browser...
Looks like Mozilla is going to be it for now. It's not very good but at
least it supports binaries where Google does not. G

I'll start posting them again as soon as I get caught up with everything.

Cheers!
Om

No...
Mozilla for mac.
It's similar to Netscape but I'm not going to let it download mail.
It's a triple browser.

I thought you were doing ok with that MT (whatever) thingy. Did it freak
out on you again? I use Windoze and Thunderbird, which is not too bad.

Just out of curiosity, why not? i use Netscape for both news and mail,
but have started using mt - news watcher for my binary groups, i can set
it to down load a number of posts, decode and place in a file while i do
something else.

I tried IE and the Mac Safari but don't like either of their mail features.

I was very pleased with the more recent netscape browser, i used
Netscape 4 for years and only recently upgraded to Netscape 7 and am
pleased with it.

Yeah, the new MT version lasted about a week then croaked again.

I'm thinking it's my hard drive. It's severly fragmented and I don't
have a good defrag program installed.

As soon as I get my tax return, I have 3 things I need to do.
Get my truck's exhaust system repaired, get the cancer tumor removed
from Ebony's neck, (it's a benign tumor but it's looking really ugly and
I've not had the money for the vet bill) and get an external HD for
backup for both mine and dad's computers!

Then I have to replace his HD and wipe mine and do a re-install......

Things might work better then. ;-)

I like the OS-X mail browser and have too many files stored there to
want to switch right now. ;-)

I tried IE and the Mac Safari but don't like either of their mail features.

The mail program that came with the I-mac is nice. I don't want Mozilla
to download mail from the server. I like to keep it separate.

I was very pleased with the more recent netscape browser, i used
Netscape 4 for years and only recently upgraded to Netscape 7 and am

I used to use Netscape, but the MT news browser is SO superior!
I just need to fix my system. I'm sure it'll work better once I get it
cleaned up.

A badly fragged HD is not a good thing......

Because it's a piece of crap?

It's very much personal preference. Many years ago I tried using a
browser for Email and newsgroups. It was crap. I betcha that it is
better now. But it's too late for me. I use Eudora for Email and
MT-NewsWatcher for newsgroups. I use Safari for the web. That's what
I'm used to and that's what I'm going to use as long as I can.

Only saw this now - bit slow... I don't envy you the job of rebuilding
your machine. Mind you, what I know about Mac's is dangerous... I have a
machine that we purchased from one of the local PC companies. DH bought
it for me for Christmas. It came preloaded with a (legal) copy of
Windoze XP and all the usual *crap*. I installed the Mozilla stuff which
is Firefox and Thunderbird (for email and news). I never use IE if I can
help it eg. I then put on all my various other software and it still
took me about a week to get it the way I wanted it... But it's cool;
plenty disk space and plenty RAM (DH bought me extra - bless him). The
processor is not too bad either... But I leave the backup stuff to DH.
He has a server for that (which I dump stuff onto at will) and he then
cuts it to DVD for more backup....

Yeah, this beast has a DVD burner and I can back up on them, but usually
just do specific files. It'd take forEVer to back up 30 gigs on DVD. G
That's why I want an external HD for backup. I can do it more
frequenently that way and it should be more efficient.
