Default Thai Recipes with Pictures

I have updated some pictures to my collection of Thai recipes. Most
interesting is the Yam Goong Dten ("Dancing" Shrimp Salad) I had the other
day at Jomtien Beach on the Gulf of Thailand.

I really liked the Grapaow Pla (Dried Fish Belly Soup) -- Don't knock it
until you try it! I made it at home and it was delicious! Serving it with
fresh cilantro and pickled chile/garlic finishes it nicely.

More updates to follow, including some really nice pictures of Thai fruits and
vegetables at the market. This is a preview -- notice the kaffir limes (to the
right of the eggs) and the bag of prik kii nuu behind the limes. I really
enjoyed gazing at this stand!

Not yet. I'm concentrating on the Thai recipes since I'm currently in
Thailand.

I had fried bananas when I lived in Thailand. I think it's pretty much
common all over SE Asia.

Holy moly Clay. That was fantastic. And seeing Col. Philpott's name
in your text was a nice bit of rfc history. Thatks for the lovely
post.

Make sure you check Clay's cookbook website. It's quite international.
I bookmarked it a long time ago and look at it frequently.

Beautiful, Clay. Thanks for posting. The pictures make a great
addition to the Thai section in your cookbook.

Dinner last night was great! I had the best tom yum gai I ever tasted. It was
home-cooked in a small village in Thailand.

Tom Yum Gai (Hot and Sour Chicken Soup)

We also had a couple of fried fresh-water fish served with a nam jim:

Nam Jim Kiga (Chili Sauce or Dip for Barbeque-style Foods)

Add a few large bottles of cold Leo beer -- I was saibai-saibai.

That looks quite lovely. I have never had it or made it with
tomatoes, but am willing to try. Thanks for posting.

I think the broth that went into this was a good part of the wonderful
taste you describe. I guess it is time to make some stock again and
give this a whirl.

I have the dried peppers from last year's garden, some galangal
growing indoors and a keffir limein a pot. Hard to get fresh lemon
grass around here this time of year, but there is a market or two I
can seek out. I grow it in the summer.

That looks good, too.

Sound like a happy time.
