In article , Andy q says...
I will test drive new cars. Just say I intend to pay cash, not lease.
It's amazing how fast you'll be in the driver's seat.

But don't you feel bad again when you have to take it back?

Anyway, dealers don't care if you pay cash or not. In fact they make
more money if you finance, and if you lease they just sell the car to
the leasing company instead of to you.

A gorgeous day - blue sky, cool breeze, birds singing.

Laughing with friends.

Laughing and hugging DH.

Getting hugs from my grandkids!

Finding a favorite something that I had misplaced.

Hearing from someone who had moved away.

Life!

You're high! And that's a very good thing!

I had the opportunity to experience one of my favorites a few days
ago.

Though we have had a mild winter here, and my, daffs, crocuses, tulips
and trees are one to two weeks ahead of where they should be, I never
really consider it to be spring until I hear my spring peepers at the
stream nearby.

These little froggies started singing in very small number a few night
ago and each day since, the evenings have stayed warm (for around
here) and they have come out in greater numbers. They are so
delightful to me. It is as if I have been holding my breath all winter
long and just now go to let it out and take in a fresh one.

There is a sound file of their chirping on the site below.

http://www.naturesound.com/frogs/pages/peeper.html

The other harbinger of spring is the invasion of the black ants, and
by gum, they are all the hell over my kitchen.

Ah well, you win some, you lose some.

Seeing my granddaughter or my kids.

Oh, yes...being with the kids (no grand kids, yet, but they are sort
of young to breed) can make me feel whole and quite content.

.....and my husband of course. I am delighted to say that even after 13
years, when I hear him coming up the front steps, I get a smile and my
heart beats just a tad faster with happiness.

Full house around here is becoming more rare, with one about to
graduate from college (Oh, yeah, she's moving back home) and two about
to start in the fall.

Thanks goodness for Instant Messaging.

I will test drive new cars. Just say I intend to pay cash, not lease.
It's amazing how fast you'll be in the driver's seat.

Car row kinda/sorta knows me now but I've driven some of the bitchinest
cars in the world. I have a route I always drive and pull into my
driveway then back to the dealer. Usually leaves the salesman visually
shaken.

It's strange how often they don't want you to make left turns (crossing
traffic). I need to know the car can turn left!!!

Then "Let me sleep on it. Call me in the morning and make me an offer."

That cheers me up. At least once a month.

Hah! You should meet my dad sometime! He's a big fan of test driving
cars as a form of recreation. One night every month for many years, my
dad and some of his buddies would go out for a guy's night out. My mom
never cared. The boys would go test drive at least one car, then out to
dinner and to a bar for a beer and to discuss politics, family, cars,
etc. In all those years, I always remember my dad arriving home sober
and happy! This is a fact for which I am forever grateful!

My dad's interest in cars never filtered down to his two children. Both
me and my sister view our cars as purely tools to get a job done. For my
dad, every car he owned was like a child to him. He used to buy a new
car on the average of once every other year or two and he paid cash for
every one, and the dealers in the area all knew him!

My avocation is photography, which I also thank my dad for. I have been
an amateur photographer since I was a kid, maybe 30 years. In fact, the
real reason why I am sitting at my computer now is to print a photo that
I want to frame and hang in my office that I shot several months ago in
the park adjacent to where I live.

Lately I also take great joy in hearing complementary comments from
friends and colleagues about how good I look. I spent the last 20 years
of my life as an overweight blob. I finally got serious about two months
ago and I have lost 20 pounds and I feel great. I have another 15 - 20
pounds to lose. To achieve this, I have been doing a lot of exercise and
following the Weight Watchers' flex plan. In addition to other exercise,
I go to a yoga class about once a month. The yoga instructor, who is an
astoundingly good looking woman told me last month that she thinks I am
looking great! Too bad she's married, but it sure was a boost for my ego!

It's a great feeling, isn't it? I joined Weight Watchers at the beginning of
January and have lost 35 pounds so far, but I had a lot more weight to lose
than you. Still, it's amazing how much better I already feel and look, and
people are definitely noticing. I don't do exercise. Never have, never
will. I see no point in doing something you really hate. :-)

Best of luck, Stan!

she was in a snit for a long while. When I talked about exercising, she
only smiled. FIL wears regularly over the past 10 years a t-shirt (of 5 he

now walking around the apartments every now and then with cane or walker.

Congratulations on your 35#. Quite a feat! It won't be long (another 9
years) until you'll be the magic 70 where "they" say it doesn't matter a
twit (or is that whit/wit) whether you exercise or not.

Lunch today: Portuguese-style Alaska Cod recipe from internet and rice. I
seem to recall you don't like cod? Testing out the new electric skillet.

Stan, how long since those days?? Glad to bring back a fond memory!
Whether it trickled down is of no consequence. I'm betting your Pop and I
would get along great!

My dad's interest in cars never filtered down to his two children. Both
me and my sister view our cars as purely tools to get a job done. For

I've always paid cash too, but I tend to hold on to mine for long as it's
FUN, FAST and NIMBLE. If it loses an ounce of fun, I seriously commit to
new cars. I don't care about stereo, leather, etc., just performance and
comfort. Looks don't matter when I can leave 'em in the dust at the
green.

Still driving my chipped 1998 VW GTI/VR6. As much fun as the day I bought
it. "Silver Bullet".

My avocation is photography, which I also thank my dad for. I have been

Good luck on redcuing with WW. I have 35 lbs. to go. BTW, you've heard of
the the Nutrition Expo at the Convention center? May 23 (??). Free
bloodwook, free drugs (--JUST KIDDING--) and WW will no doubt be there in
force. I haven't read up much on it, just what catches my ears from the
TV morning news as I hunt for the CotD.

We should meet at the Reading Terminal Market (Torture Chamber for
reducers) at some point before, during or after the show and split a
pitcher of beer!??

Not that you or others who might want to join up and say "Hello" can't
beat your own drums if attending, of course.

All the best,

Andy

Hearing from someone who moved away.

That pretty much sums up for me too. I remember the days when buying
new makeup, a new dress or a new pair of shoes (later, it was
housewares and cookbooks) really did make me feel better. I guess as
we get older, keeping the economy in motion isn't at the top of our
list anymore.... not that we've given up on it, by any means. It's
just that other things are more important to us these days.
