Default Last Night's Supper (Guilty Pleasures)

Good Morning All,

In light of the pending earthquake and subsequent dissolution of
civilization as we know it, I thought I'd take advantage of the time
remaining and post last night's supper. It was a truely decadent dish
worthy of the condemned.

I had the most wonderful cheese-burger last night. First, I
caramalized some thinly sliced onions. While these were cooking, I
mixed a half-pound hamburger patty with about a table-spoons each of
Jim Beams steak sauce and Worchestershire sauce. Setting the onions
aside, I then sprinkled the patty with garlic salt and pan fried it
while meanwhile toasting my onion buns under the broiler. Once the
meat had finished cooking, I covered it with the caramlized onions and
two slices of hickory smoked cheddar cheese, spread buns with Ranch
dressing, and assembled it into a nice, thick, greasy burger! Were
this not decadent enough, on the side I had a generous helping of fried
tater-tots liberally sprinkled with chili and cheese. G

I think I'm going to have to work-out a week on my Bowflex to expiate
the guilt of that meal, but it was oh, so good! S

Anyone else here have "guilty pleasure" meals which are decidedly on
the heavy/unhealthy side, but which you crave and partake of
regardless?

Sounds like a nice burger.

Hot fudge Sundays......

Grilled ham and cheese.

Bean and cheese nachos with guacamole, sour cream and picante sauce.

A baked potato drowed in butter, melted cheese and bacon bits.

Pizza Pizza Pizza with double toppings and triple cheese.

Runny brie with toasted fresh sourdough bread and a decent wine.

I'm sure I could go on....... ;-)

One thing that will probably prevent me from considering gastric bypass
surgery, (my doctor is trying to encourage me to consider it), she told
me I could not eat ice cream without getting sick for the rest of my
life.

I don't have a serious sweet tooth and only eat ice cream maybe 2 or 3
times per year. I just don't crave it but once in awhile, I want some.
Usually Haagan dasz vanilla. No additions, just straight out of the
carton.

I don't think I could face not being able to ever enjoy certain foods
again! Having IBS is bad enough.

GOOD Food is one of the few real pleasures in life!
One that nobody can take away from us.

But, I digress....... lol

Shrimp quesadillas with sour cream and guacamole is another favorite.

I realize that you used hickory smoked cheddar, but for this burger to
be truly decadent, it would require bacon, as well. )

Now, that gives me gas just reading about it. I assume you sleep

Nothing wrong with a little hamburger grease dripping off your elbows
from time to time.

Please elaborate. This sounds juicier than the burger.

As I get older, I eat less and less food which could be called a
"guilty pleasure". Even when I make enchiladas or other naughty foods,
I use fat-free or non-fat substitutes. Feh.
That said, I do love brownies and vanilla ice cream. They are so
irresistable to me that Barb's naughty brownies are banished from my
home. Forever. It's an honor, seriously.

I can only say get another doctor! If you've got IBS you're already
having problems getting enough vitamins and nutrients from your food -
the LAST thing you need would be for them to chop the top part of your
intestines off!
