It was widely reported a while back that a teenager with a peanut allergy
died from kissing her boyfriend who has just eaten a PB sandwich. Turns out to be false, as reported by the coroner. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Con...path=News/News Yes, peanut allergies can be severe but there is also a lot of exaggeration that goes on. -- Peter Aitken Visit my recipe and kitchen myths page at www.pgacon.com/cooking.htm |

The way they were being, when they announced the no-peanut thing, sounds like illicit drugs. From Canada - Coroner reported she died from lack of oxygen to the brain. He also said she had asthma and that was suspected as the cause. He also said her death was not caused by a peanut allergy. Which makes no sense if her asthma was initated by a reaction to peanuts (FWIW - we found after a couple years of him having asthma that my son's asthma attacks are triggered by exposure to cats - and my daughter's as well, except, oddly enough, not to siamese cats. Never checked my son with siamese since his attacks were fairly strong. Both are in their 20s and quite healthy as long as they avoid cats and cat dander. My wife also had asthma reactions from cats, so we always figured it was something from the womb. My brother has had severe asthma-like symptoms from peanuts for 50 years. We call it allergy. I don't know what a Canadian coroner would call it.) Sad thing anyway. nancy |

It seemed so hush hush, made me wonder what the big secret was. Completely understandable, as siamese cats are another breed entirely. My brother has had severe asthma-like symptoms from peanuts for 50 years. We call it allergy. I don't know what a Canadian coroner would call it.) Yeah, there is some distinction defining what is an allergy, people say they are allergic to poison ivy and that's not the case, like that. However, if you're having a reaction, who cares about splitting hairs. Sad thing anyway. Absolutely. So young. nancy |

FWIW - My daughter once had siamese cats -- there was no difference in my allergic reaction to them than other type cats. She had heard that they were less allergenic. Not so for me. I've even become allergic to dogs, but some say there are less allergenic dogs. The Bichon Friese being one. I'd hate to give home to a Bichon and find out that I was allergic. Sigh! Dee Dee |

No cause for that condition was given. N. |
