Love when they have stupid headlines like that since if you don't know
or understand you just call everything "sushi".

Note that the method descibed to eat them is:

"Coastal communities are doing their best to promote jellyfish as a
novelty food, sold dried and salted."

I've heard that, dried, they make a very good snack for low carbers. ;-)

No, I've not tried them...... yet.

Gotta see if there are any at the local oriental market, but the idea
makes me a bit queezy. I'll have to work up my nerve.

Or get drunk. G

We had jellyfish sushi (actually, sashimi) once about a year ago. It
was a "special" at one of our two regular sushi places. It was very
mild with most of the flavor coming from the sauce served with it.
The surprising thing was the texture which was almost crunchy. I doubt
that I would order it again, just because it wasn't as interesting
as many other kinds of sushi or sashimi.

Jellyfish is often found at dim sum restaurants. Usually served cooked
and chilled. Has a nice texture.

As to the article, how would you propose they restore their fishery
without trying to kill these giant jellyfish? -aem

I tried a stir - fried jellyfish dish once at a Chinese resto in DC (City
Lights Of China), it was a big blah...

And, more important, they weigh around 400 pounds. I don't think I'd
want to mess with too many of them at that size.

If they are out of their natural/native waters, then they are
non-native and fair game, I say.
