Campbell pleads guilty in embezzlement

WENTWORTH -- Wendy Hoover Campbell has pleaded guilty to embezzling
$21,215 from the Rockingham County School District.

The daughter of former Rockingham County Commissioner Winfred "Wink"
Hoover, Campbell was sentenced Thursday to 90 days of electronically
monitored house arrest and ordered to complete 75 hours of community
service and pay $300 in fines.

"I'm glad she didn't get an active sentence," said Daniel Bailey,
Campbell's lawyer. Bailey presented all of the evidence he could on
Campbell's character, hoping for the lightest sentence possible, he
said.

Bailey said Campbell, a single parent at the time, made a mistake and
"she's done everything she could between that time and now to correct
it."

Campbell took $21,215 from the Early Childhood Center at Western
Rockingham Middle School between Nov. 1, 2000, and May 31, 2004. A
member of Campbell's church repaid the money after Campbell resigned
her position as the center's director in 2004.

She now teaches at the private Stone-Eden Christian School. Bailey
said that Campbell's sentence allows her to continue working.

Celeste Bailey, the principal at Stone-Eden, said Campbell's
employment won't change. "She's still an excellent teacher," Celeste
Bailey said. "I've had calls from parents saying 'She's not leaving,
is she?' "

The case has garnered public interest partly because of Campbell's
family and the way the embezzlement was reported to investigators.

Though the school district realized the center was missing money in a
May 2004 audit, Walter Bromenschenkel, the now-retired Rockingham
County Schools superintendent, didn't report it to law enforcement.

The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office began an investigation in
January 2005, only after Richard Moore, publisher of The Neely
Chronicle, a satirical Rockingham County newspaper, filed a complaint.

"There was an embezzlement and it should have been reported to law
enforcement in a more timely fashion," Sheriff Sam Page said Friday.
"It was a pretty obvious violation of the law."

Bromenschenkel has said he decided not to report the incident because
the money was repaid.

Other circumstances of the case caused delays in Campbell's trial.

Rockingham County District Attorney Belinda Foster requested a special
prosecutor after she said Campbell's lawyer intimated in court that
his client was being treated unfairly.

Then, prosecutor Dean Bowman, an assistant attorney general for North
Carolina, was unable to be in court to start the trial because of high
gasoline prices in September. The governor ordered state employees to
curtail travel, so Bowman couldn't drive from Raleigh.

Superior Court Judge Edwin Wilson recused himself from the case
because he represented Campbell's husband when he was a private
attorney

Superior Court Judge Edwin Wilson recused himself from the case
because he represented Campbell's husband when he was a private
attorney

Thank you for showing that the LORD forgives and saves.

In the interim, you remain in my prayers dear neighbor whom I love, in
Jesus' name.

STFU, you stupid asshole.

Ouch. You may have at the other cheek.

Y'know, I only ask that you do one thing; too bad you refuse.

It would seem that you believe everything is about you. Such are the
snares of self-worship.

Oops, looks like that "discerning heart" has failed you again.

My eyes are working fine.

Obviously not. You can't comprehend what's written because you refuse
to open them.

Either that, or you're lying. Unfortunate, but such are the snares of
delusion and vanity.

You've been asked, both politely and impolitely, by many, many people,
to stop crossposting this stupid, insane, off-topic religious crap into
alt.atheism. You've also been asked to stop posting it to your little
newsgroup, which you've pretty much wrecked in your deluded orgy of
vanity. And you've been shown the biblical evidence that what you're
doing is in direct contradiction of what your "LORD" explicitly told
you to do. But you're too vain, deluded, dishonest, inconsiderate, and
obsessed to stop. Little baby Jesus can't breathe, he's in so much
pain from what you're doing.

It's all about you, Andy. I'm just one of the messengers.

You remind me of the blind man who would evaluate the vision of the
seeing.

Now this is about the works of the four riders on horseback from the 6th
chapter of the Book of Revelation (we are now in the 6th year into the
third millenium after the birth of the Son of Man)

(1) Crowned rider wielding a bow and riding a white horse:

"See you on the other side. It's not bad. We are just going to sleep."
- missive (missile) from one of 12 born-again Christian miners who gave
up their lives to save the youngest among them after being trapped by an
explosion in a W.Va mine.

(2) Rider wielding a sword and riding a fiery red horse:

Ariel Sharon, the world's hope for lasting peace in the middle east, has
suffered a massive bleeding stroke. Violence and bloodshed in Iraq
escalates. U.S. now less likely to pull out of Iraq anytime soon.

(3) Rider wielding a set of food scales and riding a black horse:

The rate of increase of the number of people worldwide using the
2PD-OMER Approach (which advocates the use of food scales) accelerates
with growing worldwide concerns about the obesity epidemic:

(4) Rider on a pale horse given the authority to kill a fourth of the
world's population "by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts
of the earth":

The H5N1 Avian Flu Pandemic is he

Yes, the migratory birds spreading H5N1 virus are wild beasts of the
earth.

Would be more than happy to "glow" and chat about this and other things
like cardiology, diabetes and nutrition that interest those following
this thread here during the next on-line chat (01/12/2006) from 6 to 7
pm EST:
