I've not adopted a dog from there yet, but I have gone "window shopping". We have 6 other dogs. Considering the amount of love and attention they need, that is almost too many.... I personally _prefer_ to adopt adult dogs! Longer attention spans, easier to train IMHO. Puppies are cute but I really don't have time to deal with the special needs they require.
