America has really went downhill fast, hasn't it? When I first came to this
country 11 years ago, it had potential. Now that war monger in DC has ruined
everything, hasn't he? Yes, without a doubt. And don't you just get sick of
hearing these liars say there is no racial profiling at airports? I know I
do. I can only imagine how bad someone who was born here feels about this
country becoming so disgraceful. I know how it makes me feel. I guess it
makes you ashamed to be an American, doesn't it? I just want to make it
clear that I don't look down on Americans. It's not your fault this country
is reviled worldwide. But if you want to change things for the better, you
will be more careful about who you vote for in the future. Is it possible
America can be saved? I guess no one really knows the answer, do they? Only
time will tell. But it isn't looking very good right now, is it?

We're going to Hell in a hand basket, thanks to Christian
Conservatives and their red state brethren who re-elected that bunch
of bozos.

Not if you work for Halliburton or an oil company.

People vote in accordance with their personal value systems. GWB might just
really reflect the values of the majority of voters. If that's the case,
then the problem isn't with the President *or* with the voters. The problem
is with democracy. Oh, for a Philosopher-King!

incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few." -- G. B. Shaw

Don't let the backdoor of America hit you in the ass on your way home.
No one is making you stay here, feel free to leave any time. Why did
you feel the need to post this crap on this board.

Is America a democracy now? I thought it was a representative republic. If
they've changed it, maybe that was the catalyst for the downturn.

I think you ought to leave and go live in another country, maybe
France.

Because I am concerned for the country I now live in. Aren't you? If you are
not concerned for the future, perhaps it is you who should leave, not I.

If you are so concerned about what a mess this country is in why don't
you do something to help instead of pointing out what is wrong? Why
would you want to live here if you see so much that is wrong?

You still did not answer my question as to why you posted this drivel
on a cooking board. But trolls are like that, aren't they?

With people who have attitudes like yours, it is not difficult to see why
America is losing its stature in the world.

As an immigrant, it is difficult for me to understand. Don't those people
care about the future of their children? Are they merely ignorant or
willfully negligent?

Actually he is expressing what many ex-pat Americans are also saying
(and many of those that I hear saying it are retired US military who
are chosing to live outside the US). The view and the commentary of
Americans and vistors to the US taken from the outside is quite a bit
different than the view and commentary from within. Me...I'm
ambivalent. There are many things I feel that have gone downhill
rapidly and many that have no significant change or even slight
improvement. I made one trip back to the US in three years. I'll
proabably make another trip back in about 18 months for my passport
renewal since dealing with the US Embassy is a PITA. It is better known
buy local ex-pats as the Department of US Citizen Harassment. There's a
reason there are Lexan (bullet-proof/shatterproof) windows in front of
the clerks. Customer frustation peaks quickly and often.

I prefer to think the voters were ignorant. They listened to the
patriotic posturing about being good Americans and not questioning
what their elected leader & his henchmen did in Washington and ignored
all the warning signs of the first 4 years. Thank goodness for term
limits! What this bunch of yahoos has done to the country is
absolutely criminal and I hope every one of them rots in jail.
