James Moriarty, my giant grey kitten boy turned 9 today.
*chuckle* We used to have a cat named Mycroft because he was our othercat's "older brother". (no, our other cat wasn't Sherlock, we're justeasily amused -- Siobhan PerriconeI inadvertently deleted the postings where I normally read them so had to start a new thread. Mycroft is a wonderful cat name. I think I might have considered it when he was a kitten but he was just too sly. He couldn't be Sherlock's smarter older brother who was a big deal in the government. No, he had to be named after the evil one. "He is the Napoleon of crime, Watson. He is the organizer of half that is evil and of nearly all that is undetected in this great city. He is a genius, a philosopher, an abstract thinker. He has a brain of the first order. He sits motionless, like a spider in the center of its web, but that web has a thousand radiations, and he knows well every quiver of each of them." Yeah, he's sort of motionless now. He is being called to be fed and is always in slo-mo going to this. He does these odd things. If I have a glass of water laying about, he dips his paw in it many times and licks it. He doesn't seem to want to share the water dish with the girls. We had a friend over and he needed to use the bathroom and we heard swearing there. The friend couldn't get to the toilet as James was on there lapping up the water. Tuner is the alpha cat and she rules here, although she is tiniest. She will swipe at him just to prove her title and he won't forget it and will always get even. And, as a true Cancerian, he has this weird crab-walk he does when he wants to fight. I've only had five cats so far. I named the first one I had Amber, as her eyes were yellow before they turned green. The second one was a Maine coon named Ariel. We got her from a newspaper ad and she hid out so much and wouldn't respond to her name. One day I yelled Katerina and she finally responded. Later, I read that Poe had a large, comfortable tortoiseshell cat named Katerina. Later, she became such a lover and responded to the name Ariel. And I like the Tempest reference. As for Tuner, she was named after Toonces The Cat Who Can Drive A Car. I have to watch it sometimes, as I'll lock her into the car by mistake when bringing things in. She really thinks she can drive it. It is also appropriate that she's called Tuner now as tuners are important for harps. The third cat is Grimalkin, a stray we picked up who was living under cars. She is nuts and has this nasty voice, so I gave her her name from the Scottish play. Dog-lovers will never get this, lol. |

Hopefully after we get our house built, So you finally sold the other one? How long did it take? We had a six month contract with a realtor (starting in June 2002), and didn't sell it at all. That took us through to January, so we took a break, let the contract run out, and then started advertising the house for sale by owner again the next May (that would be May 2003) and sold it three months later, at the end of August. This is the second house we've sold for sale by owner, and both times it took three months (almost to the day) to sell the house. Anyway, so we moved into a rental last August and started looking for land. I finally got a line on a great parcel in May, we closed on that (well our builder did) June 1st. They were clearing two weeks ago, and started excavating last week for the foundation. We haven't been to it since June 24th, but we're going out there tomorrow (we have the day off) to see how it's going. There should be a big hole for the foundation and possibly some concrete poured. ![]() Thanks for asking, I'm always excited to talk about the house. ![]() -- Siobhan Perricone "This isn't right. I've been in the same place for 25+ years and the plan is to move somewhere a lot sunnier & a little warmer in '08. I'm not big on change and won't move quickly. I was actually thinking of you over the weekend and wondering what ever happened. My sister and I are going to Vermont again this fall so naturally I thought of you. We're going to be staying down in West Dover.
