heh heh....
So says the lawyer who is suing the Chuck-O-Rama on behalf of a couple of Atkin's dieters 86'ed for practicing roast beef abuse. It would appear the trial will hinge on whether restaurant had the right to boot the bootees, claiming the restaurant is not really an all-you-can-eat establishment. I must confess, I've never seen a buffet that wasn't all-you-can-eat. But, in fact, the definition of buffet clearly fails to resolve this quandry. Perhaps this trial will lay to rest this pressing socio-political issue. In the meantime, I'm gonna fix myself a salami-cheese-salami sandwich! ![]() nb |

That's all they want. Uh huh. Well, they said they've been there quite a few times since they went on the Atkin's diet maybe 3 weeks ago. I have a feeling the restaurant saw them coming and were sick and tired of the one man roast beef eating machine. nancy |

Beets me. Depends on which way the litigants take it. I guess a business has right to exclude anyone losing them money. By the same token, the customer has the right to sue the business for discrimination, be it ethnic or gastronomic. On another note, howzabout those trick new kitchen gizmos. Assuming they are even just 4 ounce slices that is 48 ounces, or 4 full pounds of beef. Maybe they should move to Texas and eat every night at those 72 ounce steak places. My guess is they were bagging the food and taking it home with them. FWIW when I was a lot younger and working out and riding a bike etc myself and a companion did get booted from the oyster bar at a King George's Smorgasbord in Eureka, California. We were eating more food than humans had a right to but at least we ate it there. No biggie, we switched to fried chicken. Paul |

Will there be a trial? Beets me. Depends on which way the litigants take it. They've lawyered up, I guarantee they have dollar signs in their eyes. I can believe the restaurant really couldn't care less if they were Samoan. I really think it had to do with their sudden 3 times a week or whatever visits where I think they went overboard on the roast beef. On another note, howzabout those trick new kitchen gizmos. My eyes glaze over at those gadget segments, but I did catch the salad scissors and got a glimpse of a toaster with inserts? nancy |

My neighbor, Mr. Chen, owns a Chinese Restaurant and had a guy come in and take ALL the eggrolls and crab puffs thus making Mr. Chen work his ass off to replace them. As he brought out the next batch, the guy try's to take them also. Mr. Chen returned his money and tells the guy (in a thick accent), "All you can eat don't mean all YOU can eat!" The restaurant roared with laughter and that pig never returned. |

I've never even heard of that stereotype before. And by the looks of them (her more so than him) they were chowing down pretty good but that has nothing to do with them being Samoan. Did you like the added "visual" of the flower in her hair and the lei around his neck? How about the overly jolly lawyer who proudly boasts of his own 300+ poundage and how he chows down too? I don't blame the restaurant one bit. Those folks were making pigs of themselves and now are making fools of themselves too, in my book. Goomba |
