I know it sounds stupid, but I cannot figure out how to make crackers.
"Joy of Cooking" doesn't even have a recipe! The NC restaurant "Denny's" used to have homemade crackers and ranch dressing free with their drinks during happy hour when I was in college in the 1980s, and I'd like to re-create those crackers for my wife's hummus. So anybody got a recipe? |

So anybody got a recipe? I understand that "saltine" type crackers are made with some kind of fermentation process taking several days. It's not very doable at home. Isaac |

link.net... I know it sounds stupid, but I cannot figure out how to make crackers. "Joy of Cooking" doesn't even have a recipe! I'm sorry to hear that your version doesn't -- what edition/year are you using? I'm working from the '64 version and there are several cracker recipes in it -- I hate that they've taken away some of the basics in later editions. The NC restaurant "Denny's" used to have homemade crackers and ranch dressing free with their drinks during happy hour when I was in college in the 1980s, and I'd like to re-create those crackers for my wife's hummus. So anybody got a recipe? I've got probably more than a dozen recipes for various types of crackers; if you can describe in a bit more detail what you're looking for, I'll be happy to see if I have something similar and post the recipe(s). -j |

None of the saltine/soda cracker-type recipes I have require any sort of long-term resting or fermentation. -j |
