I'm talking about the grills that have heating elements on both top
and bottom. Has anyone tried both and have an opinion about the relative merits of the two? Here's my take, with the limited information I have: HB has removable grills, convenient for dishwashing. Foreman is reputed to be working on this, but it's not in market yet. I think Foreman opens wider for thicker steaks. I've heard that the HB top grill doesn't brown as well as the Foreman. I haven't found that to be so. The HB has a timer, convenient. Some models of the Foreman may also have a timer, but not the one I tried. The HB opens flat in case you occasionally need more grill space and are willing to sacrifice cooking time. I'd appreciate any other comments. |

Got it 2 days ago and am thrilled with the fast cooking time and results! Awesome. :-) Saves electricity too. My big stove burns a lot and the grill is better and faster than a microwave. I'm leaving it out now as I'll probably be using it every day. I like the idea tho' of removable surfaces and this does not have that. Thanks for the heads up! I'll be taking a look at where I might be able to get an HB grill. K. -- Sprout the Mung Bean to reply... Here's my take, with the limited information I have: I'd appreciate any other comments. I don't have any experience with the HB grill, but I have a pretty large Foreman grill and am quite pleased with it. It has an unsophisticated thermostat - you know, low, medium, high. We just bought one as a gift for our son, which also has a thermostat and a 30-minute timer. Frankly, I can't think of anything that would need grilling for 30 minutes, and others have said that when the time is up the unit still doesn't cut off. I don't know. You can't remove the grids, but I find the unit very easy to clean. When finished cooking, unplug the unit right away and lay a couple of water-soaked paper towels on the grill and close the lid. The crud will be soft enough to clean off when you're ready to do the kitchen-cleanup. Dora |

It makes a great grilled-cheese sandwich in less than 5 minutes. My DH loves using it and cleans it without complaint, so I'm happy. Dawn |

Newsgroup, Austin.forsale :-) LOTS of junk there for sale every day, and a few entertaining flamers as well, but it's worth hanging out there for finding deals like this one!!!!! I like it. :-) K. -- Sprout the Mung Bean to reply... "larry" wrote: "Gary" wrote in message I'd appreciate any other comment They are absolutely pitIFUL. A hot iron skillet is way better. Ordinarily, I'd agree, since I am a cast iron lover and have used mine for years...... But I just got my first foreman grill this week, as I was able to get a small used one for cheap. I am time challenged in the mornings since I work swing shifts and oh BOY has this thing been a time saver! I've put the box it came in away, and am leaving it out as I'm using it so much for meat! I still cook my eggs in the skillet, or do my stir fry's in there, but if I am wanting, say, steak and eggs or a pork chop, that grill will cook what I want in 2 to 3 minutes and it's so good! It reduces fat too. I've also cooked boneless skinless breast tenders in it. 2 minutes max. I've not yet tried fish in it, but plan to. Please, don't knock this handy dandy time saver until you've given it a shot. :-) It only has to heat up for about 5 minutes. I wait 'till the light goes off before using it. It's also handy dandy for grilled cheese sammiches. I don't have to use any oil or butter. G K. -- Sprout the Mung Bean to reply...
