Every year I throw an all-out bash Oscar Party for my movie loving friends. I
love doing it, but I have to admit, I've run out of ideas for food. Over the years, I have done the fancy appetizer thing, done a tex-mex thing, Pasta, pasta, pasta, casual with chips/dips/chicken wings, fancy with lemon grilled salmon and baby veggies, did an Indian curry thing, roasted chicken, pizza, take-out chinese, prime-rib and baked potatoes. So here I am-less than a week to go and I'm racking my brain for something new and different that my friends will love that I can do within a reasonable budget. I'm having about 12-15 people over. It's gotta be buffett style, people usually eat either holding plates or sitting at my coffee table. I have learned the hard way it is not good to make people have to use a knife to cut their meat when they are trying to hold a plate in their lap! So I'd rather avoid that. So if anyone has any brilliant ideas, I'd love to hear them! Sandra |

You didn't mention Greek. Moussaka can be eaten with fork only. Green
salad with vinegary dressing, feta and olives. Rice. Spanakopita or tiropita. (I'm not sure if I have the word right-- cheese filling in filo triangles. Whatever filling for the filo, wrap it up in triangles which renders them finger food.) --Lia Sandy n ne wrote: Every year I throw an all-out bash Oscar Party for my movie loving friends. "Cindy Fuller" wrote in message ... How about Southeast Asian? Start off with fresh spring rolls and peanut dipping sauce, then progress to a Thai beef salad. Dessert can be ice cream with mango. I was thinking along the same lines. If you wanted a few more dishes, you could add larb (ground chicken, cooked, in a spicy lime juice-based sauce, served cold w/ lettuce leaves for wrapping), a noodle dish (preferably one that can be made ahead....a vegetarian jap chae -- Korean glass noodle stir-fry) served at room temp, maybe some Asian-sauced chicken wings or spare ribs, etc. |

It occurred to me that you'll have to have some food for the inevitable low carber. nancy |

So if anyone has any brilliant ideas, I'd love to hear them! Whatabout Italian food? Lasagna, baked ziti, meatballs, maybe two or three types of pasta with different sauces to go on it. Garlic bread, some Italian appetisers, would be nice. |
