Sure they do. 'Super" Target' is just like 'Super" Walmart'. Not every
Walmart sells groceries. Not every Target sells groceries. I remember
when neither one of them did. Even when I lived in areas that had such
stores nearby, I've never bought groceries from either one. Then again,
I'm not driving to another state to shop at Whole Foods, either.

I agree with you and I will never set foot in a Walmart again.
I have been in 3 times, the last time 9 years ago.
The first time to check prices on a child's car seat (they are all made in
China) - the nearby dept. store was significantly cheaper.
The second to check on the price of infant formula for my then newborn
grandson - the price in my regular s/m was 30% cheaper.
The third time to buy coffee for an out-of-town friend (on their
instructions) - I didn't think it a bargain.

I used to go there years ago. I learned better. MalWart is an evil
evil corporation. Nothing like the vision it's founder Sam Walton had
and implemented near Bentonville AR. For example, Sam used to be proud
of selling only American made goods! The filthily rich capitalists
quickly put and end to THAT little ideal in their ardent Worship of
Mammon!!

You either support them or your don't. I don't. you do. That IS black
and white.

Learn the meaning of the term as it applies to mental health. But that
might require some actual education, which I know you don't have.
Sorry!

I try where I can to NOT send my $$$ to China, or intop the pockets of
the filthily rich MalWart empire capitalists! For example several
years ago when I wanted to buy a new good lawn chair, I found:

http://www.lawnchairusa.com/About-Us_ep_7.html

and I bought one! Damn fine lawn chair too! And MADE IN THE USA!! Yay!

Does not matter. When people look for the bad guy, it is always Wal Mart
even though many other stores have the same policies for employees, good
sold, etc. You should not shop and Wal Mart but should channel your
money to China via other outlets.

So what TV do you have that was not built overseas?

Everyone blames Wal Mart, but the manufacturers allowed themselves to be
bullied.

Consumers (like you and me) demand cheaper and cheaper products and then
complain they are made in China. If you can find a local seller of US
made products, you are doing well by buying from them, but too many
people just want cheap and they are getting it.

I do not watch TV anymore. Not for almost 6 years now.

Yes I know. That's a large part of why MalWart is an evil evil empire!
They took the power away from the manufacturers and consumers and put
it in the hands of the distributor. And WE the consumers allowed it
because we thoufght it was giving us more value! Stupid shortsighed
consumers we are! I wised up earlier than most!

Yep! It's OUR fault! And I freely admit I used to buy things from
MalWart, until I wised up. But as I pioint out in another post, where
I can I WILL seek out and pay more for a quality American made
product, and I did:

I don't shop at those either. I buy from locally owned and operated
grocers. Schnucks, Straubs, coffee from Starr's (have to buy some more
soon!) and produce from the Market In The Loop.

I buy where it is best for me. A package of Cabot Cheese (made about
120 miles from me in the USA) is $12.99 at Stop & Shop. The same exact
product at Wal Mart on the other side of the street is $8.87. With a
couple of buys like that I save enough so I can take my wife out to
breakfast at a local restaurant.

Keep in mind also. some of our largest grocery chains are foreign owned
too. While you don't want to support Bentonville, you may be supporting
Germany, England, Netherlands. Stop & Shop is owned by Royal Ahold,
Aldi and Trader Joes are German owned. Fresh & Easy is Tesco in the UK.

No other retail stores sell any different products... most everything
is imported because the US has very few skilled workers to make
things. Even US automobiles are only assembled in the US of parts
manufactured in other countries. Any clothes in any store bought off
the rack are imported, but everyone is free to buy custom made, IF
they are willing/able to pay the price. People pick on Walmart the
same as school kids pick on the biggest kids with impunity, it's
always the smallest kids who are the bullies... the people who pick on
Walmart are always the smallest minded.

Well sed, Ed.

OTOH, Chinese is not always bad. Those Chinese folks know how to make
warm clothing. Here at 8K ft, in Icepick CO, I bought a $300 dollar
"Alaskan Guide" down parka online. I returned it for not being warm
enough. Instead, I bought a $20 ranch jacket and a $35 hooded parka,
both Chinese made from Walmart. I can't even wear 'em if it's not
cold enough out or inside a bldg, they both being too damn warm!

Most of the electrical components are made off shore because labour and
other costs are cheaper. They have to be assembled here to be
considered to be "American made".

Nah. Walmart of the epitome of what is wrong with North American retail
these days. Walmart is leading us into the race to the bottom. You
don't need to worry about them feeling bullied. They are laughing all
the way to the bank.

Bingo!

I think the problem that arises from WW, is that they have so many
other seedy practices. Paying less than a living wage, forcing many of
their own employees to seek public assistance. That and their pricing
practices (gobble walmart and vlasic) which DO bully manufacturers.
Plus, 5 yr tax breaks that also cheat the local economy, then
rebuilding elsewhere when the tax breaks dry up, etc. OTOH, most box
stores do the same thing, so looking down on WW while shopping at
Costco is the height of hypocrisy.

I don't shop at Walmart. My lack of patronage doesn't hurt them in the
least. When I first got here I read in the local newspaper WalMart was
trying to get permission to built yet another mammoth store off HWY 21
leading to Lady's Island, which is where I shop for groceries. There
was a huge public outry! Walmart lost. :-D

First of all, they tried to challenge the zoning ordinances. Yes, it's
listed for sale as commercial property. But it is zoned for a *small*
shopping center.

There is a particular "lowcountry style" of architecture here. Beaufort
County does what it can to maintain the grace of it. Those plans did
not include a 250,000 sq. foot BOX with a huge parking lot smack dab
next to a fragile ecosystem. They would have had to fill in part of the
marsh to accomodate parking and deliveries. Uh, nope!

For those who *really* want to shop at WalMart, there already is one in
Beaufort. You may have to drive a ways to get there. But it's there.
As one guy wrote in a letter to the editor: "When every checkout stand
at the existing WalMart is staffed and there are people waiting in line,
THEN you can build another WalMart." Exactly!

See? They can't take over the world unless we let them.

Is not! Last I heard there are no chicle plantations in Denmark

ALL chewing gum is imported to the US... the chicle tree grows where?

You don't know what you're talking about. Leviton products are
manufactured on Long Island, NY. I know because I worked at their
plant as a tool and diemaker. You haven't a clue about manufacturing,
in fact everything you say you make up and embellish with extra BS.
You only wish you could get a job at Walmart, but they'd never hire a
know nothing the likes of you... you couldn't get a job swabbing
toilets.

Bryan got his GED. I graduated high school, then put myself through
college at two different very prestigous universities and have 3
different Bachelor's degrees: electrical enginering, computer science
and nursing.

At the last church garage sale, there was a box of electrical stuff that
I bought for next to nothing that had, among other things, old Leviton
