For instance, what month is better to eat melons, August or
September?
Each food has good seasons and bad seasons to long of year.

A list of specific foods and seasons are which good happens, more useful is.

Certainly one range of dates (28 july of through september 3 am), has
better times for food one but not of others happens. So again, why
this date range for fasting am?

So good or bad as to mandate abstinence?

I think that's a bit extreme.
