Default Heloise was right!


A paste of vinegar and flour will take the tarnish off brass. I won't
say it polishes like a commercial brass polish does, but my brass
table top looks fantastic and no elbow grease was involved. Apply,
let it sit for 10 minutes and rinse (I did that with a hose outside).
