Default Recipe: Cabbage Soup

I've made this 2 nights running cause it's so good. It used to call for
1/2 cup marg but I found my recipe works great with just the butter
flavoured cooking spray. Weight Watchers value 4 points per serving. I've
been making this since the early 60's.

MY CABBAGE SOUP

POINTS® value | 4
Servings | 4

soups |

Ingredients

1/2 medium head green cabbage
5 large onion(s)
5 medium uncooked potato(es)
28 oz canned diced tomatoes
4 cup water
1 serving butter-flavor cooking spray

Instructions

In a large pot, fry onion and cabbage in spray slowly til tender and
brown.( I don't let it get too brown) About 25 minutes. Boil potatoes til
cooked in the water. Add tomatoes and fried onion and cabbage. Season to
taste. Simmer 30 minutes. Hubby likes meat in his so I throw in some frozen
meatballs. When the soup is all together I add some magi, beef broth powder,
salt, celery leaves (dried), Worcestershire sauce and lots of pepper

Thanks for posting this, Helen! I can always use another good home-
tested WW-oriented recipe, and this one sounds much better than their
current published "Cabbage Soup" recipe. Only 4 points makes it even
better! I joined WW the day after Thanksgiving. I'm down 25.6 lbs as of
Week 8 weign-in (7 weeks on the plan) and 1.4 lbs away from my 10%, but
it's still a long road ahead. This time I plan to keep my lifetime
member status when I get there! If you're still working at yours, or
better still, at goal, best of luck!!!

sounds very nice, One of the things we do is flat out keep boiled cabbage,
plain mind you so that we can make different soup every day, at the end of
the week we usually make similar to this with the frig veg leftovers. I
love cabbage any way it is prepared, Lee

Thanks Wayne; I down from 225 to 190. Want to get down to at least 145.
Best wishes on your journey. You CAN do it! BTW, my corned beef turned out
great. The veggies not, but due to my own mistake. I cooked them in the
brine, misreading the recipe. But the meat was super!

Way to go, Helen! WE will do it! Glad you liked the corned beef, but too
bad about the veggies. I usually cook them in the same pot and liquid that
I'm cooking the beef. I imagine the brine was probably too salty. Well,
we learn through experience I guess. I've certainly made worse blunders.

I suppose we all have. Actually my hubby said it's the only meal he can
remember that was bad. Not bad for 20 years of cooking for him.
