I like cooking beef in the crockpot......I layer the crockpot with baby
carrots,,,,,put in the roast,,,,,add an envelope of onion soup,,,,and yet I find the meat dry. What am I doing wrong? Should I brown the roast first? add liquid? I have a boneless blade pot roast? I appreciate your help. Sandy |

Juicy roasts really should be well-marbled with rat. And, yes, it's a good idea to brown the roast first...not to prevent dryness, but to enhance flavor. Wayne |

This is usually what I do and I'll add a couple bullion cubes as well. |

And yes, add about 1/3 - 1/2 c. of beef broth or at the very least water. Red wine is a nice addition and the alcohol cooks away. Jill |

You never had a beef roast well-marbled with rat? Well, maybe in a restaurant, who knows. Uh, yeah, my spell-checker just doesn't understand when I type the wrong word. G Wayne |

I always thought of rodents being too lean for marbleing a roast, but I defer to your experience. Thanks for the tip; I'll give it a try. Ed http://pages.cthome.net/edhome Thanks, Ed. I'm sure you'll love it! G |
