Default REQ: Raw food recipes

Hi,

Well, my roommates have gotten this idea to go on a raw food fast for
a few days...anyone know of any raw food recipes, or recipe sites?
Thanks!

If it's the roommates who are doing raw foods, why are *you* the one
looking for recipes? Oh, never mind.

Looking for recipes for a "fast" also seems a little
counter-productive. Those who bother to construct recipes within these
limits presumably think of them as cuisine, not fodder.

Here's one site:

http://veggietable.allinfo-about.com...odrecipes.html

Google is your friend.

Raw food can be fun as part of your regular diet too. :-)
A couple of times this week, I've given dad a "dip" tray that was much
appreciated, especially since it's finger food and he likes to eat in
front of his computer.

I sliced up raw portabello mushroom, zuchinni, tomatoe, and avocado,
then added some (cooked) sliced duck meat left over from Christmas and a
little sliced cheese and arranged all that on a plate with a small bowl
of ranch dressing in the middle.

He rilly enjoyed it!

When thinking raw foods, think salads and crudeets.
Most veggies can be eaten raw, just don't forget the ranch dressing! G

K.

There are excellent sources on the Net - use Google - and also excellent
books in stores and libraries.

A good source of protein on a raw regimen is soaked (to remove the enzymes
that prevent sprouting) nuts and seeds. Try soaking fresh almonds overnight,
then chop them in a food processor. Add the same ingredients as you would
for tuna or chicken salad: onions, celery, bell pepper, parsley, season with
plenty of natural sea salt and pepper, unpasteurized cider vinegar and
cold-pressed oil. Serve rolled in a lettuce leaf or romaine leaf, or stuffed
in a tomato or avocado, or on a raw cracker (made from dehydrated veggies
and soaked grains and nuts.) It is a labor-intensive cuisine, by the way.

See the new January issue of Gourmet magazine. You can probably search
Epicurious.com and they will have recipes too. Looks like a LOT of
work. Personally, I think that's why a woman invented fire in order to
cook stuff.
