Um...yes. Not always, but usually.

Not only that, but he's usually right about cooking-related topics. Not
always, but usually.

after his unthinkingly cruel comments about Michael's situation?

Sorry, didn't see it.

One can only hope that he is permanently killfiled by the thinking persons
among us.

What the hell do you care what anybody else does? Why do you attempt to
ostracise? If you don't like his posts, don't read his posts. Sheesh.

Well YOU can't seem to get him off of your mind. Face it. You are
obsessed with him.

He's got you RIGHT where he wants you. He won. You lost miserably.

Face reality. You are powerless against Sheldon.

Obviously, if you have such a highly evolved opinion of him (as
opposed to a highly evolved opinion of his postings), you must
read (and take to heart) what he posts, in which case you have
nothing to complain about as you are in no way forced to read any
posts made on this or any other newsgroup. Basically, it's
caveat lector here. If you don't like it, don't read it any
more. If you do, don't complain about it.

But, but, but, isn't this the anarchy of usenet where he has just
as much of a right to complain as Sheldon does to be deliberately
offensive??? :-)

The ultimate in freedom of speech!

Yes...and no. Offense is in the eyes of the beholder and by Usenet
convention and barring anything illegal which should be reported,
such as child pornography and what not, it is up to the beholder to
remove him or herself from the point of offense. In other words, he
should not impose upon others his own views. That being said, of
course everyone is free to do it, whether it is appreciated or not.

However, I was pointing out to Ken that his insistence on approaching
the issue of Sheldon while he has him killfiled puts him in a
difficult situation. Although I also have a superficially similar
relationship with The, I at least do not use the killfile to stifle
his dexter meanderings while asking others to shun him.

Of course, with political or religious posts, all bets are off.
;-) That's when you simply killfile threads.

Well, so it's a case of what's good for the goose is not applicable
to the gander? If you favour freedom of speech you MUST include the
difficult topics as well as the easy ones. Freedom of speech is only
valuable if it transcends normal behaviour.

Michael's recovery is good news indeed.
Merry Christmas to him and all of you.
Regards.
Ken.

Who died and left you as net-cop?

And who's the fake 'penmart'?

I find that he's near worthless when he doesn't quote from his

And your point is?

I now "have to" read your crying.
What's it to you what anyone reads on this newsgroup or any other?

You don't like it? Use your option to *NOT* read it. But don't
bitch about it to everyone else.

BOB
note the quotes

Back at you Bob.
"Have to read"??? Come on, give me a break - or killfile me if this really
offends.
I don't think I was 'crying'. Just pointing out that someone who does what
Sheldon has done really should be shunned - permanently. Then you won't

have
to suffer through my rantings or anybody else's for that matter.
It was a suggestion, not an order - which *would* have given weight to

your
accusation of 'net cop'.
Sincerely.
Ken.

Ken, Sheldon won. You blinked.

I've been away for a long time and know next to nothing about Michael
(gather that he's gravely ill and now getting better?), and I can't
comment about that.

But as for Sheldon - he mouthes off a lot, and I can think of many who
have left rfc because of his comments - and yet he knows a lot about
food and cooking and still (after so many years) surprises me with his
more serious suggestions. In his own weird way, he has earned a bit of
my respect.

No, really.

If somebody leaves usenet because of Shel', (or similar semi-trolls), they
have a serious self-confidence problem,
and were hanging out on the wrong lists.

Survival of the, uh, mentally fittest and all that. :-)

Learning to cope on usenet has actually been very, very helpful in dealing
with people
in RL. I'm calmer and more tolerant now. I've managed to dump some
insecurities that
were causing me some real socialization problems.

It's good therapy. g
Or something like that?

He is.

Adjust your definition of "thinking persons among us" accordingly.
