What would you serve to drink at a make-your-own-sundae party (for adults,
not children)? I'll have a couple light appetizers as well (dip & veggies, marinated mushrooms, olive paste & crostini, nothing too fancy) which would call for wine but I really can't imagine drinking wine with ice cream. Anyone have any bright ideas? Thanks! LauraJ |

And coffee for those who can't do without - maybe iced coffee, or not. -- Nancy Howells (don't forget to switch it, and replace the to send mail). |

Champagne is always appropriate, goes especially well with desserts... in fact Champagne is dessert.... there are hundreds of Champagne punch recipes. ---= BOYCOTT FRANCE (belgium) GERMANY--SPAIN =--- ---= Move UNITED NATIONS To Paris =--- ********* "Life would be devoid of all meaning were it without tribulation." Anyone have any bright ideas? How about a 'make-your-own cocktail' table where people can create drinks to go with their sundaes? You needen't provide a huge selection of ingredients, just a couple of liquers (something coffee flavoured, something chocolate, something strawberry-flavoured?), plenty of crushed ice, cream, egg whites etc. and appropriate mixers - plus a couple of cocktail recipes for the uninspired. Might be a lot of work for you on top of the sundaes, but it's a thought. I don't like champagne ![]() Jo --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Anyone have any bright ideas? Why would you think wine can't be enjoyed with desserts? There are hundreds of wines, fortified spirits, and liqueurs that can be served with dessert -- specifically ice cream. Ports go well with many chocolates; late harvests (zin, berry-infused, et al) enhance an already-sweet dessert; champagnes and sparkling wines sharpen the taste buds through their effervescence. Then there's always the dessert apértifs (Frangelico, Bailey's, Amaretto, etc.) Personally, I'd serve a vertical of ports (my favorite is Quinta do Noval), Bailey's, Frangelico, Krug Champagne, Far Niente Dolce, and coffee and tea. Also make sure you have different chocolate toppings available -- not everyone appreciates Hershey's Squirt-n-Glop. G The Ranger --- Humor is genetic.
