Hi All!
I recently installed MasterCook Deluxe Version 6.2.00.02 on my PC to upgrade from Version 4.0. I also had a significant number of cookbooks in MealMaster format. After installing MasterCook, I converted and imported all of my Version 4.0 cookbooks, as well as cookbooks exported from MealMaster. The installation, conversions, and imports went as expected and I encountered no error messages. When I view individual cookbooks everything seems to work as it's supposed to. However, I receive error messages and MasterCook crashes whenever I attempt to create a new cookbook, or when I perform a search over multiple cookbooks. The odd thing is that the new cookbook is, in fact, created and can be used after I restart the program. I sometimes even have a crash on the main screen when I select an option. In an effort to eliminate the problem, I have uninstalled and reinstalled-converted-imported several times. This has solved nothing. I wondered if any of you have had this problem, especially if you've found the reason and/or solution. I have 54 cookbooks ranging in size from a handful of recipes to nearly 8,000 recipes in one cookbook. The documentation states that cookbooks can contain as many as 12,000 recipes. I am running Windows XP SP1. Because even this latest version of MasterCook is not exactly new, I have even tried running it in various compatibility modes for Windows 95, 98, 2000, and NT. None of these attempts have made any difference in the crashing problem. Any ideas? TIA Wayne |

MasterCook 6.2 was the first version published by ValuSoft (who acquired the program). You might want to try two support pages: the first is for ValuSoft/MasterCook: http://tinyurl.com/x3fd The second is for the old Sierra version. Help here may be current: http://tinyurl.com/x3g1 Dora |

I would prefer to work a fix if it's possible. Thanks, Wayne |

Sheesh, what a dumbass. Does your mommy know you're playing with her computer because you don't have a life? Oh, and I've removed rec.music.classical,alt.usenet.kooks,soc.culture.j ewish,alt.pets.rabbit s,a lt.idiots that you put in the header line. Go back to alt.idiots where you belong. Wayne, I have the same setup but with no problems. I know that's not a lot of help, but there you are. I have XP Pro SP1, same version of MasterCook. You might want to look at this: http://mastercook_cupboard.tripod.com/general_faqs.htm Doug Thanks, Doug. I'll take a look and keep looking until I find the problem. Since we have the same installation, it occurs to me that I may be runnning something in the background that is causing the conflict. That may be the best starting point. Wayne |
