Nope, haven't tried it. Isn't that Mario Battali (sp) in the commercials
with that annoying woman with the squeaky voice?

Also, I have
been a life long user of Reynolds plastic wrap. Now they change the
box from having the metal cutting strip on the outside of the box to
this cutting contraption thingy that is inside the box. You slide the
little cutter thing from one end to the other to cut the plastic
wrap! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! They think this is new and improved? I
have already called Reynolds to complain. Why are companies always
looking to improve everything? Isn't there a point where they "Got it
Right" ?

peace,
Barbara

One would think it's RIGHT after so many years. I haven't seen the new
packaging; thanks for warning me. It sounds annoying as hell.

I've used Reynolds plastic wrap for a long time because that's what they
used in the restaurants I worked in. Of course, those came in very large (3
foot wide) industrial rolls. But Glad wrap and Saran wrap was such a PITA,
getting all stuck to itself. Reynolds' did the job without doing that, so
that is what I bought. It was cheaper, too.

I have. I'm an Early Acquirer. "-) I think it's expensive. ~$3.50
for 25 yards x 10" (or close). It takes a little practice getting the
seal right and it works better on some material than others.

Also, I have been a life long user of Reynolds plastic wrap.

Me, too.

Nah, as soon as something threatens, they've got to come up with a new
gimmick. Keeps the product developers and researchers employed.

As I posted in another thread, Cut-Rite waxed paper was bought by
Reynolds, and now the rolls don't have that impressed "you're about to
run out" msg a few feet from the end of the roll, which I always took
as a good reminder to put it on my shoppihng list. *I* called Reynolds
and they said the new mills couldn't do the impress. 'New and
Improved' for whom?

Press'n'Seal is intriguing, but Barb reports it's fairly pricey, and I
don't often turn over a bowl I've plastic-topped. Do I *need* this
product? I don't think so. Although, like the festive colored wraps I
have a couple of rolls of, it *might* be useful for a special project
in the future.

At Costco they sell a (I think) 3,000 foot roll of plastic wrap. I've been
using this giant roll (about 1 per year) for years. The stuff is great and
easy to use. I sits in the liquor cabinet above the microwave and has a
built in cutter..

I really like the product - I believe its made by Borden.

I kind of figured the Glad Press and Seal would be on the pricey side. I do
think it will try it still. I doubt I would used everyday but for left over
like pizza maybe? That could go right from the fridge to the microwave with
just a few slits in the paper?
Jill this is for you too....just wait intil you see this new box for
Reynolds. The box is about 1/4 inch longer on each end of the the roll of
plastic. The cutter glide is operational from either end but you have to
crease the lid of the box out of the way so you can see what the heck you
are doing. grrrrrrrrrrrr ! The problem is I dont want to switch, I dont like
the other plastic wraps. I liked the fact that Reynolds had the cutter on
the *flap* of the box rather then the outside of the box and It did what it
was suppose to do with out sticking to itself. I could use it with a
blindfold on!! We must start a campaign, a rally!! ;-)

Barbara

Yes, I bought a box a few weeks ago at the insistence of my husband, who
loves to try the latest things out.
The jury's still out: the "feel" and handling are different from regular
plastic wrap. I found that the seal was very good when the wrap was used
for the first time on a dish, but poor when trying to rewrap. Will I pay
the extra money again? No - I'll use a container.

My Costco sells the Stretch-tite stuff in 500' rolls from Polyvinyl Films,
Inc. Easy to dispense, works great, 500' lasts a long time...

I spent about $15 on Gladware, about 20 plastic containers. They work
great. Perfect seal each time, reusable. After over a year some of the
lids are cracking after repeated trips through the dishwasher, but I got
my money's worth.

For those times food won't fit in the Gladware, a plateful of food
wrapped in foil works great.

Yes, I have a set of Rubbermaid like that. Boy, is that seal tight. Also,
some inexpensive Rubbermaid "Take Alongs" and some ditto Ziploc containers.
The last two work great if I'm taking something somewhere and want to say,
"Just keep the container".

Incidentally, I have the 500-ft. rolls of Stretch-Tite plastic wrap that
Costco sells. Maybe I'm clumsy - that darned stuff clings to itself (and
me) like a leech. What do I do wrong?

You have the BABY roll.

Mine is made by poly-vinyl films and is 3,000 feet with a cutter.

Hark! I heard "Z GIRL" say:

Has anyone tried the new Glad Press and Seal wrap? I am planning on trying
it and was hoping to hear what you think first.

I like it for things like covered baked goods that sit on the counter
for a couple of days (brownies for example), but it's kind of useless
in the fridge -- once the container sweats a little, the plastic won't
stick any more. This is true of most plastic wraps, but considering
the price of "Press & Seal", it's not worth it.

Also, I have been a life
long user of Reynolds plastic wrap. Now they change the box from having the
metal cutting strip on the outside of the box to this cutting contraption

When everyone in the world buys one kind of wrap (or soap, or whatever(,
they'll stop trying to "improve" it...

I haven't tried either... but we should probably take this as a
heads-up to hang onto our old plastic wrap boxes so that we can
put the new rolls of wrap into the old boxes. Oh! and if you do
buy the new stuff and don't like the new cutters - WRITE
COMPLAINT LETTERS!! If they don't know - they won't change it
back.
