Anyone know of an over the counter brand? Too vague a question. Do you want some particular kind of dressing that you can't make yourself? Most ordinary salad dressings are among the easiest things in the world to make, and then you can control sodium and calories however you like. -aem |

Anyone know of an over the counter brand? No. I make mine from scratch and you should, too. Take a look at the ingredients some time, especially on the fat-free ones. Yuck! Get some buttermilk and add minced fresh garlic, freshly ground pepper, and chopped fresh herbs. I like parsley, cilantro, and chives. Because I have no problems with sodium, I add plenty of salt. You might wish to add a bit of salt. The result is a very tasty ranch dressing. If you like a thicker dressing, add some reduced-fat sour cream. A thinner dressing will cover more salad with less dressing than will a thicker dressing. Cindy Hamilton |
