Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I would be hard pressed to find as
deserving
a target were something to happen to her.

Not meraning to scare anyone but pray hard, yes. This is serious
business. I know I had it. Fortunately she appears to be in the
hospital before any peritonitis could set in. She'll be fine if she
has to have a resection performed. She'll have a colostomy most
likely for 3 months or so - assuming there is too much infection to
reconnect the colon in one surgery. It's a long journey to recovery
though, 6 weeks easily and then the second surgery to reconnect. .

The good news is when you're all healed up the odds of it happening
again are quite slim. While my gut is always a problem it has been
much less of one since my ordeal. So there is some good that comes
out of it.

I had a colostomy too. It was not pretty. The reversal, while not
perfect, was okay. I don't think I'll ever be back to normal but it's
okay.

You do have the option of having it redone. I know some people have a hard
time with adhesions and sometimes partial closer of the connection. Sucks I
know but if I can land some good insurance someday I'll think about a redo.
Nice to know a fellow member of the purple snake club.

They believe that her diverticulitis has caused a rupture,
so she's going to undergo a cat scan to see if they need to operate.
Let's keep our collective fingers crossed that
she doesn't. They've already got her on morphine, she's in
some pain.

Bad timing, to say the least. I neglected to find out what
hospital, of course.

Oh, hell.

Postive thoughts headed her way.

My scroungy little fall seems so trivial.

'T'aint necessarily so.

My daughter's mustang made several credible attempts on her life. One
of them left her with a perfect hoof print on her sternum where Luna
stomped her, in spite of having several other perfectly open avenues of
escape. The only thing that saved DD was the fact that she bounced to
her feet and hit that bitch from hell right in the nose with a
roundhouse punch that started around ankle level when Luna turned to
make another run at her.

The next time, after a perfectly sedate ride 'round the pasture, Luna
went into a bucking, crowhopping frenzy and dumped DD off on her head,
nearly breaking her neck and resulting in a seriously altered state of
consciousness that lasted for a good 90 minutes.

Luna went to auction and sold for $24.00. I wouldn't have given a wet
slap if she'd gone for dog food, but as it turned out, she's now a rodeo
bronc. At least now, anybody who swings a leg over her knows what they
can expect.

Thank you, Nancy. Next chance you have to talk to Jill, please, tell her
all the chat room regulars miss her and are thinking of her and wishing the
best for her.

This is where I'm supposed to say something nice: censored
uncharacteristic comments from swertz

"Fire up that new laptop and talk to us, Jill!"

I've noticed all hospitals have public wireless now, even in the
emergency areas (waiting and treatment). Now if they'd only start
selling Starbucks...

OTOH, Jill ... posting on morphine? Nah.
