Or, "Rival CO606 Stainless-Steel 6-Slice Countertop Convection Toaster Oven
with Broiler " as Amazon puts it. I picked it up tonight. I had to have it because it holds a 12-inch pizza. And it was cheap to begin with, then on sale on top of that. It has a convection function, that is simply a fan, right? Anyone else have this one? All I have ever used a toaster oven for is toast and top-melting, but I would like to do a little more because our wall oven is so old and so hot. We had a supercheap, old two-slice so it'll be a step up no matter what. |

Lets you cook at lower temps in less time, depends on how full the oven is and if anything blocks the fan. It cooked my tri-tip in half the time compared to the bbq-grill and it charred up nice and evenly. I'm more a push button person than a dial person but for the price it looks like a great deal! They didn't mention the temp range or dimensions. It also didn't say if it was always convection cooking. Mine lets me choose. Four rack positions is nice. Do you make your own pizza or from frozen? Enjoy it. Andy |

It cooked my tri-tip in half the time compared to the bbq-grill and it charred up nice and evenly. I'm more a push button person than a dial person but for the price it looks like a great deal! I thought so too. It looks like the more expensive models, and the accessories seem to be pretty good quality, but the unit itself seems a bit flimsy, which I would expect for the price. About the knobs--I like them better than buttons, but the Amazon reviews agree that they begin malfunctioning after a while. (At that point I'll spend a couple hundred and get a nice one, maybe.) They didn't mention the temp range or dimensions. It also didn't say ifit was always convection cooking. Mine lets me choose. The dial goes to 450 degrees. I did not measure it, but it is about a third larger than the usual toastmaster cheapie unit. It fits where I put it, so that is good. Four rack positions is nice. Yes, especially since my old one only fit two slices of toast! When I make breakfast, my husband likes two slices, so I always join him late. Do you make your own pizza or from frozen? I used to make it years ago, but now just frozen. If I keep stuff like that around (esp. the French Bread type) my husband is happy to pop them in the oven on days I don't cook. Enjoy it. Thanks, Andy! I think it will be a good starter model. |

Summer is a good time to minimize the use of an old, hot, large oven. Convenient uses for a toaster oven basically include anything that fits and won't spatter so much as to make cleanup problematical. In the past couple of weeks, I've used it for: baking potatoes (sometimes partially pre-zapped) roasting herbed and oiled potato wedges baking frozen french fries baking a key lime pie baking a meat loaf roasting dry rubbed pork tenderloin making garlic bread and garlic flour tortilla keeping cutlets warm while making a pan sauce warming plates (door open, rack pulled partly out so they'll fit and balance) oh, and toasting, too. I would recommend you put your oven thermometer in the toaster oven a few times to get an idea of calibration. The dials are seldom accurate. -aem |

All great ideas, thank you! The other thing is, our wall oven dates from, maybe, 1969 at the latest. And it is soooo hot. I hate it. I would recommend you put your oven thermometer in the toaster oven a few times to get an idea of calibration. The dials are seldom accurate. -aem Excellent idea, I will do that tonight. |

Thanks, Andy! I think it will be a good starter model. cybercat, If you think it is a little flimsy construction, don't leave it plugged in when not in use. Wires "could" short when not in use and burn down the house and you and yours. I unplug my cheap-o toaster after toast pops up. Just use the heck out of it while under warranty! Just try not to eat more, if that's possible? ![]() Best, Andy |

I unplug my cheap-o toaster after toast pops up. I unplug everything in my kitchen except the fridge and the microwave. Better safe. Just use the heck out of it while under warranty!
