Default What kind of eater are you ?

My wife takes her time when she eats. Ever since she was little. Not
intentionally, but she is just naturally a slow eater. Takes her
double the time to eat compared to me and the rest of her family when
she grew up. Kinda funny. Don't know why either.

Me, I wolf it down. As if I can't get it to my stomach fast enough.
Oh, I enjoy the tastes in my mouth, but at the same time I fill my
mouth up with as much food as possible (without looking like a
chipmunk or being gross or obscene about it of course).

As soon as the mouthful is about to go down I am ready to refill right
away. Almost as if I gorge myself.

I also like to make every bite almost perfect. If I am eating salad, i
cant just have lettuce on my fork and dressing, there needs to be a
sampling of everything else in the salad on the fork - 1 cherry
tomatoe, 1 or 2 pieces of crouton, some chick peas - the perfect bite.

No, he's just impatient and obsessive-compulsive.

I wonder how others feel about dining with you?
I also wonder if as a child you felt you had to shovel it in or risk
losing it? it sounds very unpleasant.

I'd hate to cook for him. Wouldn't you rather cook for someone who
enjoyed more than just setting records for how fast he could pig it down?
Like taking time to taste it?

Hey, our culture isn't all that different from yours. It's mostly just
wetter.

I'm a very slow eater. I'm always the last one finished, and usually by
a large margin. I enjoy tasting, not racing.

I also don't do caffiene; perhaps that makes a difference.

(Because at 60 I'm still young enough that I don't need it to stay awake.)

yeah, I agree! Not only take the time to taste it but also savor
it..discuss it.. have conversation just to be pleasant.
I have this image of someone holding a fork like a fist, shoveling it in
silently and then getting up and walking off but only after tossing
his napkin on the soiled plate. Ohyeah... just the kinda man any parent
would be glad their daughter brought home for dinner with the family. LOL

He is a phagiopath. He has developed a pathological
form of eating behavior. Best to avoid him if you
don't want to be bitten yourself.

Sounds way better than spending an hour staring at something you
didn't want to eat.

Sounds definitely unpleasant. Wouldn't want to eat around this person.
Would be downright disgusting to watch someone shovel food in as if there
were no tomorrow.

Who stares at something they don't want to eat? A child, maybe, told by an
adult "you must eat this". As an adult, I'd simply say, no thank you and
never have to stare at it.

I eat pretty quickly, although probably not as fast as you. However,
I find
that the more I paid for the food, the slower I eat it.

For me, a perfect bite is just one thing. I'm one of those "food
can't touch"
types.

LOL I must have come off the wrong way. No, I don't lean over my plate
shovelling in bite after bite with food all over my mouth and snorting
like a pig. I do take some time to enjoy and savor the flavors and
what I am eating. But at the same time I eat fast, it is just a
compulsive nature about me as someone posted earlier.

Compared to my wife who doesn't eat slow to savor the flavor, just
eats slow, period.
