Default Pecans: How do you get the darn nut out?

Hello,

Someone gave us a big bag of fresh picked Arizona pecans. We went out
and bought a nut cracker, and sat down with a few beers to
enjoy*fresh*pecans. Unfortunately, when you break open the shell, the
nut inside stays attached to the web of the shell and you can't get
anything worth eating.

What is the proper method to eat raw pecans?

With the caveat that I've never personnally tried any of these, the
most popular nutcracker for pecans seems to be the ones that crack
them by applying the pressure, or shock, to the two pointey ends
rather than trying to crack them at the middle. A quick search on
Google for "pecan nutcracker" turned up a large number of hits... take
your choice.

Google is your friend.

We used to use a little pick like thing (came in a set with the
nutcracker) to get it out...

Having used various tools to shell Texas pecans, this one is the best.

You may find it for even less on other websites. The box mine came in
doesn't show a company web site, but I've had mine for several years.

Thanks to everyone for the help. Except for Puester, of course (who I
have kill filed).
