Default cake in syrup

Had Nepali food for the first time, dessert was small cakes shaped like
doughnut holes in a thick fruit syrup. Does anyone know the name of this
dessert of any info. Thanks L

It sounds like a non-alcoholic version of baba au rhum.

Hmm... I was going to say that. First thing that popped into my mind.
IIRC, however, the babas are yeast-based cakes. Perhaps these are not. Or
maybe I'm wrong.

Sorry it took so long to respond, but I think this is what you're talking
about:

At the bottom of the article there are links to recipes; there's also a
recipe for gulab jamun in one of the Vegetarian Epicure books, but I don't
remember which one (and I'm not home at the moment to check).
